Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Centre Technician who will be responsible for hardware installation, cabling, documentation, and stock control, within our Norway based data centre facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data centre operations and possess excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities. A passion for delivering high quality outcomes is essential, as is a desire to work in an expanding company pushing the boundaries of GPU-as-a-service!
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware components including servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and other peripherals within the data centre environment.
- Work with DC providers to manage day-to-day operations of facilities, including maintenance, installations, upgrades, and repairs.
- Oversee data center performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Perform cable management tasks, including routing, labelling, and organizing cables to ensure optimal performance and accessibility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of hardware configurations, cable layouts, inventory records, and other relevant information.
- Monitor stock levels of hardware components and consumables, and coordinate procurement activities as needed to ensure adequate supply levels.
- Conduct regular audits of hardware and cable infrastructure to identify and address any issues or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities, equipment upgrades, and installations.
- Provide technical support and assistance to other teams as needed, including troubleshooting hardware-related issues and implementing solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and clients to coordinate activities, provide updates, and ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred although relevant experience will be considered in lieu.
- Proven experience working in data center environments, with a strong understanding of data center operations and best practises.
- Demonstrated expertise in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, including servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and peripherals.
- Proficiency in cable management techniques and practices, with the ability to organize and maintain neat and tidy cable layouts.
- Experience with inventory management and stock control processes, including tracking and ordering hardware components and consumables.
- Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to create and maintain accurate records of hardware configurations, cable layouts, and inventory records.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a diverse audience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Cisco CCNA, etc.) are a plus.
